HISS GOLDEN MESSENGER HOPSCOTCH SCHEDULE

North Carolina's Hopscotch Music Festival is nearly upon us. Hiss Golden Messenger will only be playing in a full-band configuration at Friday night's performance at the Fletcher Opera Theatre; all other performances will be solo, duo, or some other mixed company.

Thursday, September 6th

Edward McKay Cultural Series presents:

Atavistic power: Soul, gospel, folk and blues traditions in independent music

So much new music rests on very old foundations, few of which are stronger than American gospel, soul, folk and blues traditions. How are those traditions being used in independent music now, and what does their use say about those using them?
 
Featuring Matthew E. White, M.C. Taylor of Hiss Golden Messenger, Skip Matheny, Jon Meuller, Samantha Crain and David Fellerath. Moderated by Peter Blackstock. Music by Hiss Golden Messenger.

Three Lobed Recordings / WXDU Hopscotch Day Show at Kings Barcade, 14 West Martin Street, Raleigh, NC 27601

With Alan Bishop/Chris Corsano/Bill Orcutt, Chuck Johnson, Oren Ambarchi/David Daniell, William Tyler, Wooden Wand and the Gunn-Truscinski Duo. The Black Twig Pickers play between-set improvisational music.

Trekky Records presents Day Party at the Globe

With The Mountain Goats and The Weather Station. For this performance, Hiss Golden Messenger personnel will include M.C. Taylor, Scott Hirsch, Terry Lonergan, Phil Cook, Brad Cook, Nathan Bowles and William Tyler.
